Animals in the tundra
You can see polar bears here! It's also cute to watch the polar bear cubs play around in the snow and sleep in the burrow with their parents.
It's also cool to see how much patience a polar bear has - they can wait for hours at a seal hole, just for their meal. They barely move at all, and lunge out like a dart when a seal comes up!

Arctic foxes are also in the tundra. They are omnivores, dining on berries and small animals in the tundra. The foxes have bushy tails, and lots of fur to keep them warm.
The plants that can withstand the rather harsh climate of the tundra are lichen and mosses. Very little amount of other plants can survive in the tundra.

Lichen can absorb water and moisture from the ice, allowing it to survive in the tundra. It has dark pigments, which allows it to absorb any heat or light. They can stop metabolic processes (organic processes in an organism) when it's really cold, and resume life when the storm is over! Wow! That is amazing, to think that an organism could do that!
Mosses are another plant that lives in the tundra. They can store nutrients so that they can photosynthesize when the cold days are over. They can also live underwater, where they are protected form the wind and freezing cold. Mosses also live on the ground, so that they can't be blown away by the wind.
